"The fountain stream of love rises in the love
for an individual, but spreads and falls in Universal Love"
- from the Gayan of Hazrat Inayat Khan
Welcome to the HeartStream Pulse Newsletter!
The
HeartStream Pulse is sent as a service to our HeartStream Sufi
Community as a communications forum. The Pulse will include:
notices whenever
a personal need arises, services to offer, housing available,
items for sale, notices about interest/discussion groups, and
community-related information to share.
Junayad's
Health Journey - from Fehrunnisa and Junayad Moore
"We
practice a healthy lifestyle, eat organic food, exercise, do yoga,
do service, hold the positive, spread love...and can get cancer.
When the diagnosis comes it is a
shock. On some level we believe we can control whether or not
we get cancer. The lesson for us continues to be: 'we're not in
control / I'm not in control'. Then there's the realization of
all that we've taken for granted, and how profoundly deep appreciation
sets in. We are full of gratitude for all the wonderful support
you have shown us in the various forms of food, groceries, drivers,
healings, prayers, and your loving presence.
As Junayad's throat cancer treatments
proceed, we both see how we can't do anything on our own. So much
is taken for granted, believing "we" are behind the action--the
ability to swallow, to speak, to vomit or not vomit, to coordinate
movement (and strong enough for that movement), to not hurt, to
comprehend, to breathe. We are completely and absolutely dependent
on God, The One Being.
We care for this body, the Form of God,
but it's not ours, or me, or I. Anything we call ourself, or believe
is our own action, is a misnomer. Murshid Sam says the ego doesn't
even exist. Our story is one of letting go of conditioning--and
feeling Love.
Now it's about going deeper still. And
the invitation is for all of us. OM Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram
-- God is victorious over our egos in our hearts. The Name is
God. Our egos do not exist, only Ram exists. Allah Hu Akbar--God
is Greater (greater than all of our stories we project around
us). Feel into stillness. Stop trying to be something. Relax your
body, relax your mind, relax your heart, relax your feeling, relax
your sense of self/identity, relax your personality. Surrender,
truly surrender, don't struggle, just relax."
| How to Help Junayad-from Sani
The intention
and sincerity of community is a powerful support, presence,
and container. My deep thanks for all those who have
responded with help and positive prayers. I also really
appreciate people's understanding and ability to hold
loving space when there is a need to direct energies
to one's own healing process and have less in-person
contact. You have all made my role coordinating help
for Junayad easy and connected. I am still coordinating
meals and people willing to sign up for dates to be
on call for errands. Contributions for the gift of acupuncture
treatments are also welcomed. To offer your your help
to Junayad and Fehrunnisa, please send an email (including
phone number) to Jan Sani Hiley: moonfeather07@yahoo.com |
March
31 -- Jilani's EnerChi Exercises Workshop
I'm offering a small group workshop to learn and practice
a simple set of movements that relieve stiffness, promote
flexibility, and energize body, mind, and spirit. I learned
many of these ancient Chinese movements from Saadi Neil
Douglas-Klotz, and over time combined them with other
tai chi, yoga, and Optimum Health Institute exercises.
The class is from 10 a.m. to noon, March 31st at The Garden,
3070 Prather Lane in Santa Cruz. Cost for the workshop
is $15, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Please join us for EnerChi. To pre-register, phone Jilani

Firdosi in Massachusetts - from Anwar Brad
Silling
"On my trip to the East Coast over the holidays,
one of the highlights was visiting my teacher, and our beloved
ex-Santa Cruzan Sufi Master, Sheikh Firdousi. He currently lives
with Maura in beautiful Littleton, Massachusetts, outside Boston.
Meeting them at their new home was so welcoming and warming, that
I almost forgot how cold it was outside!
The ever-loving sufi couple are busy
building their nest, remodeling the house, and charging their
energy onto their ¾ acre property. Firdousi is booked-up, continuing
his Karma Healing work, with many satisfied clients already in
the area. Allah appears to be steering him more into the corporate
world, where he'l be helping companies go "Green" and thrive.
They are very happy and incredibly content
in their new idyllic, sweet environment--AND they do miss everyone
in Santa Cruz. While their return visit to SC is unknown at this
time, they extend big, warm, "Ya Fattahs" to the HeartStream community.
We can all take heart that Firdousi is still very connected to
us here by the Monterrey Bay, particularly through the beautiful,
powerful energy of all those he touched. And to further demonstrate
his connection, the area code on his cell phone number is still
'831'!" Contact information: Firdousi Wyrick, 60 Nagog Hill Road,
Littleton, MA 01460 phone: (831) 601-2419, email: firdousi@mac.com

Youth
Scholarship Fund
The Ruhaniat
has established the Youth Scholarship Fund to grant young people,
ages 16-29, monetary assistance for event travel and tuition.
It is our hope that through providing financial assistance, we
can make Sufi Ruhaniat and Dances of Universal Peace events more
accessible to young people, thereby increasing the participation
of youth in the activities of our greater community. As you plan
and host events, we ask that you let the youth in your communities
know that this fund is available to assist them in attending the
events. If you would like more information about the fund, please

Letter from Andi Berrin
"This message brings love and
deepest gratitude to you all for your generosity and support towards
my trip to see John of God in Brazil in November. Please forgive
the generic nature of this message. It seems to be the best way
I know to reach everyone. Some of you remain anonymous; others,
I've seen your names on cards or envelopes or checks. Before I
left, when Rick and Adora met with me and gave me the gifts of
your well wishes and contributions, HEALING began at that moment!
To this day, whenever I pause, take a breath, and think of your
great generosity of spirit, healing is happening.
As an update: I wish I had more encouraging
news to report about my eyes and brain, which continue to be a
challenge. I am still in the midst of seeing various medical practitioners
(Western, Holistic ...) with no clear answers yet. I bring back
from my trip to John of God a deep appreciation for his mission
and the service, dedication, and faith of the volunteers and staff
there from around the world. I bring back a greater awareness
of the opportunity we all have at every moment to be still within
and open to the Healing Presence that is available beyond our
story. Unfortunately, in the small, poor town of Abadiania, there
are very strong, compact flourescent lights everywhere: in all
the rooms of the Casa where John of God works (including the meditation
rooms), all the rooms of the inn in which we stayed, all buildings
in the town, and even the outside streetlights at night. This
exposure was, to put it mildly, an ordeal at the time. However,
as I dictate this note to a friend at the computer, my heart is
full of gratitude for your kindness and I remain open to healing
-- perhaps in ways unknown to me at this time". -Andi
